About Course

We will look at:

  • The history of PTSD and how it is often misunderstood and stigmatised
  • The different types of PTSD
  • How PTSD triggers work
  • How PTSD affects the client both mentally and physically
  • How those symptoms present themselves on a day to day basis in the form of client behaviours that you will experience through your Key Work in the community.

Secondly you will learn how to Key Work clients effectively, using techniques, processes & hacks based on my experiences in the field for over a decade as a community based front line Key Worker, working with clients who have complex mental health issues..

The objective is to be able to Key Work confidently in the community with people with PTSD, you’ll increase your knowledge of how their triggers and stressors affect your interactions; ultimately making the outcome for yourself and the client a positive one.

We will be basing the learning on the Trauma Informed Care model that we apply to our client interactions in our day to day work at Sole Survivor, the essence of trauma informed care if you haven’t heard of the term before is about focussing on “what happened to you?” instead of “what’s wrong with you?” as an approach to client care.
